Stuff for your Outsides
We have about a dozen bikes, including couple of kids smaller ones, that you can borrow to go to the beaches just down the street or into town or just to ride along the water and harbor and see why the Cape is cool and relaxing. If you are into serious biking, we have a couple of bike carriers you can attach to your car or SUV or whatever and head out to the many bike trails all over the Cape. We have special booklets, handouts, maps and all so you can get maximum fun out of the whole thing.
A lot of you serious peddlers bring your own bikes and we’ll give you the same handouts, maps and info to get the maximum pleasure and not to exhaust you needlessly.
There are toy chests in both buildings loaded with towels. Out in the Bike Shed there are light beach chairs, umbrellas for the sun, buckets, shovels and more for the kids, or bored husbands.
Town beaches charge for parking. But have restrooms and snack bars and all. Local beaches down the street are free but ya gotta walk or bike to them. The National Seashore starts about 30-40 minutes from here and is great. Local beaches are flat, the Seashore has big dunes down to the beach and also places you can take a dog year round.
We have a couple of el cheapo Styrofoam coolers you can borrow to take to the beach or out by the hammocks in the back yard and say to hell with going any further.
We have, of course, WiFi all over everywhere so you can connect your laptop or smart phone or Kindle or i-pad and play games, watch TV and NetFlix. And we have a wireless printer that you can hook up to any old time you want.
We are putting new flat screen HD TVs in all the rooms and the billiard room and dining room to catch morning news. And of course every room has a clock radio to wake you up or put you to sleep gently.
I have a growing bunch of mystery books on my Kindle Fire that I can ‘loan out’ to you free of charge for 14 days. Price certainly right.
The Lemuel B. Simmons Memorial Free Library on the second floor has a bunch of paperbacks you can borrow. If you have your own and are finished, drop it off and pick a new one. That’s how we get newer ones. Gotta remember Lemuel read a lot of these books about 150 years ago.
Spas, Gyms, Pools, Other Stuff
We have working arrangements with several very good spas where you can get your mind and body worked over. Hopefully not so relaxed that you forget to come back here. The Conference Center just up the street has a gym and pool you can use for $10 or so a day. And of course the Billiard Room in the Annex and the Toad Hall Sports Car Collection are available to you daily.
