Reservations
We hold your reservation based on a credit card
guarantee. If the stay is for one night, please send a check for the full
amount; if it is for two nights or more, please send a check for half. Any
balance due is payable upon arrival. The credit card guarantee is used while
we await your check. For actual payment, we request personal checks, cash,
or traveler's checks. We try not to take credit cards for actual payment
because they charge a 2-3% transaction charge.
Cancellations
Reservations made within the week of arrival are non
cancelable. All cancellations are subject
to a $25 charge. Your deposit will be refunded, less $25, if you were able to
notify 7 days in advance that you will not be able to stay at the Inn. On
shorter notice, we will make a refund if we are able to re-rent your room. In
the event of a no show, the deposit will be forfeited; if you have not sent
your deposit, the full amount will be charged to your credit card.
Children & Pets
The best bet for families with a couple of older
kids is, of course, the Suite. Room 11 has a full size twin rollaway that
easily fits in the corner. Room 1 has a twin size sleeper in the sitting area.
And we have port-a-cribs for small ones, and then mattresses for kids up to
10. Over 10, they need a full size rollaway. Up to age 10, $10 extra, over
age 10 or adults $20 extra. Nothing extra can go into rooms 2, 3 or 7. 1 mattress
can go into rooms 4, 5, 8, 12. 2 mattresses can be squeezed into rooms 6,
9, 11. A rollaway bed can go into1, 4, 6, 9, 11.
As to pets, we take dogs, sheep and other small farm animals
(some have to be tied up outside), but not cats (allergies and such). There
is a flat one time $25 cleanup charge. Pets may be college educated, but they
shed more than our regular two footed guests. Once you are here, treat the
pup like you would at
home. Walk him in the back yard, take him with you, or leave
him in the room for a while while you are out wandering or having dinner.
Dogs are not allowed on local public beaches during the summer, but any other
time, or in summer after 4:30 when the lifeguards leave, you can go for it.
We do have a handout on places you can take dogs any time of the year, so
take heart. And if push comes to shove, Adam will entertain them like he's
doing here.
Rules
Park as considerately as possible,
as Bill has taken most
of the available space for his cars. If you have a dog, we have a handout
on where you can take him to run, swim and all that. But you can't bring him
to the breakfast table, other wide treat him as you would at home. Don't let
the cats into the main building, and don't let them out of the annex after
6 PM. No tank tops on guys (but encouraged on gals). There are no keys, and
we have now done away with the 9 o'clock curfew. The Billiard Room closes
at 10 PM. Bill himself closes about 8 o'clock.
Rates
Rates during the season (June through September) range from $200 to $260 per
night,
the suite is $340. Off season (November though mid April)
rates run from $130 to $160. The kinda between season (April - mid June, and
late September - October) rates run $170 to $220 and the two bedroom suite
is $300. Extra people in a room, if possible, are $20 per night. Click on
our room description page and see each room and their rates. THEN,
IF YOU COME WEEKDAYS (MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY) DURING THE IN-SEASON, RATES
ARE $20 A NIGHT LESS. ALSO IF YOU STAY 3 OR MORE NIGHTS, TAKE OFF $20 A NIGHT.
IF YOU ARE DOING BOTH TAKE OFF $30 A NIGHT. DURING THE BETWEEN SEASON AND
OFF SEASON IT'S $10 INSTEAD OF THE $20. Taxes of 9.7% are
not included. There is a two night minimum over weekends if it includes Saturday
night, and generally a three night minimum over holiday weekends.
Accommodations
14 bedrooms, including a two room suite, and a 2 bedroom
suite. All have private bathrooms. The rooms are not air-conditioned. They
have ceiling fans, and more importantly, the steady cool breeze called Cape
Cod air-conditioning. Check in is anytime after Noon, but if you are going
to get here earlier, come here first. At least you can dump off your stuff,
and get 'official' ideas on what to do or where to go to lunch at the harbor.
Let us know if you are arriving after 8 P.M. If you are going to be arriving
late, park in the driveway close to either side, and go in the front door.
A note will tell you how to get to your room. There will be a map of good
restaurants in town that serve until 10 or 11 P.M., so you won't die of hunger.
Check out is 11 A.M. You certainly don't have to be out of the Inn, just out
of your room so we can get it ready for the next bunch of folks. In 2008 we
added individual air conditiong units to all the bedrooms in the Main Inn
building. But with the economy not doing all that well, we didn't raise rates
to cover this. We offer it as a option at $10 a night. But based on past years,
there are probably less than a dozen days all year that it is needed. We have
fans in every room and the sea breeze (Cape Cod Air Conditioning) does a pretty
good job by itself.
Extra Stuff
We have two sheds full of 10 speed mountain bikes for youths and adults, bike
racks for your car,
fishing gear, beach chairs & towels, coolers, hair dryers,
irons and other essentials you may have forgotten. We have a billiard room,
relaxing porches and hammocks, and a free lending library. We reluctantly
have added a TV area to one of the Common Rooms. Extra phones and modem hookups,
and fax machines are available in both buildings. Just bring yourselves, we
have most everything else. We have a zillion handouts and maps for touring
around the Cape and the Islands. Also sheets for Boston, Newport, the North
Shore, New Hampshire and Maine and even one for traveling all over New England.
The Inn's Gofer Car
We'll pick you up at the airport or bus station in the Inn's
1967 Bentley sedan. Might even run you uptown for dinner. This neat old English
touring car adds a bit of class to the Simmons Homestead. And, as to cars.
You will need a car if you are going to take Bill's Tid-Bit sheets and tour
around the Cape and surrounding areas. But you don't even want a car if you
are going to take a day trip to one of the Islands. There are lots of cabs
around, and town and beaches are less than a ten minute walk away. If you
are flying into Logan, there are hourly express busses directly to Hyannis.
Then you can always rent a car here in town. We get some special rates too.
Heck, just borrow a bike anytime you feel like it.
