You can spend your days visiting historic lighthouses, exploring new beaches or visiting quaint towns such as Chatham, Wellfleet, Sandwich, Provincetown and others. While there are plenty of excellent beaches within minutes of the inn, if you wish to visit the famed Cape Cod National Seashore, it’s only about 30 to 40 minutes away.
To help our guests, we are always happy to offer suggestions for attractions, scenic drives, restaurants, beaches and more. Cape Cod offers a little something for everyone, and we have brochures and handouts describing a myriad of activities throughout the area, as well as on Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.
2. Historic Charm
One of the reasons why people love Cape Cod is the historic maritime charm, and there is a Maratime Museum right here in Hyannis. If you love history and the ambiance of yesteryear, why not stay in an historic bed and breakfast in Cape Cod? The Simmons Homestead Inn is just such a place, constructed at the turn of the 19th Century by Sylvanis Simmons and his son the famous sea captain Lemuel Simmons. The grounds include the restored main home as well as the restored servant’s quarters. A 200-year-old barn also has been restored, and our guest rooms and suites are sprinkled throughout these three historic dwellings.
Guest rooms boast an eclectic mix of furnishings, full of historic Cape Cod charm. Each room has been decorated individually with comfort in mind, and some rooms feature a poster bed or perhaps a canopy bed. A few rooms include working fireplaces, as well. and all have their own bathrooms. The common areas are decorated with a unique mix of artwork and knickknacks.
3. Plenty Of Amenities
As you might expect when staying at a bed & breakfast in Cape Cod, a full breakfast is included in your night’s stay at the Simmons Homestead Inn. In the early evening, we provide a Wine Hour, and guests often relax on the porch and discuss their day and look at actual menus from the restaurants that we recommend before heading out to dinner.
As previously mentioned, we have free bikes and helmets available for guest use. We also have a Billiard Room in the restored barn, where you can enjoy a rousing game. The inn also is home to the Toad Hall Classic Car Collection. This collection of vehicles includes more than 40 classic sports cars, ranging from the 1950s to the 1980s, and, of course, inn guests enjoy free admission to view the collection.
