The Simmons Homestead Inn makes coming to Cape Cod in the Winter a great relaxing and enjoyable visit. We are in the center of Cape Cod so convenient to everything around. But what’s inside the Inn is what makes it a great Cape Cod Winter home. Two of the rooms have real working fireplaces in them so you can be cozy and there is a big fireplace in the Common Room we have going afternoons for relaxing and reading and evenings to get ready for dinner. Wine Hour around the fire is wonderful. Then you can head out to several great restaurants that also have fireplaces in their lounges and have dinner by them. The Inn has a great billiard room as well to enjoy in the cooler months.

While you might think that Cape Cod is more of a summer destination, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy a winter getaway at the Cape as much as a summer visit. At our Cape Cod Inn, we welcome guests all year, and there are many advantages to booking an off-season stay at our Cape Cod B&B.

  1. Save Money With A Winter Visit

At Simmons Homestead Inn, as with other Cape Cod inns and lodgings, our rates vary according to season. From December 1 until March 31, we offer our lowest rates of the year. You can enjoy all the comforts and amenities that the summer guests enjoy, yet pay quite a bit less for your room. In fact, you are likely to save about $70 or $80 per night by simply booking your stay during these dates.

  1. Avoid The Crowds & Crowded Roads

While summer offers great beach weather, there’s no denying that the roads and beaches can be a bit crowded at times. Even our picturesque villages can fill up with travelers enjoying our multitude of shops and restaurants. Book a winter stay at our historic Cape Cod inn and you won’t have to fight the crowds and you’ll find that your driving times will be seriously reduced during this time of year.

  1. Enjoy Some Seasonal Fun

Winter might not be a great time for sunbathing, but it is a fantastic time to enjoy some other activities. For instance, there are ice skating spots throughout Cape Cod and most boast very reasonable rates. Throughout December, the Christmas on Cape Cod event is in full swing, and you can enjoy a Norman Rockwell-esque holiday with carolers, holiday fairs, parades and much more. The holiday events take place throughout Cape Cod, including here in Hyannis.

The Cape Cod Railroad is open for business throughout the winter months and early spring and this is a great way to enjoy a tour of the area from the comfort and warmth of a cozy train car. In December, there is even a Polar Express train ride ideal for children. Other special events include the Rails & Ales Beer Tasting Train on February 25, 2017, which can be a great way to beat the winter blues.

  1. Winter Brings Its Own Natural Beauty

Each season brings its own special beauty to our Cape Cod B&B, and winter is no exception. You can bundle up, grab one of the inn’s bicycles and enjoy the many local biking and hiking trails. If it’s not too windy, there’s no reason not to take a long walk along the beach, enjoy the crash of waves along the shore and select a few seashells in the bargain. After a day hiking the trails or walking along the beach, come back to the inn for a glass of wine and sit in front of the fire while you perfuse a few menus from our great local restaurants.

  1. Shop, Explore, Taste & Learn Without The Crowds

While some shops and restaurants do close during the low season, you’ll find that most places are still open year-round. In addition to boutiques, art galleries, antique shops and eateries, most of the museums in Cape Cod also are open throughout the year. You can take the kids to the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, the Woods Hole Science Aquarium or the Cape Cod Children’s Museum or take the ferry over to Nantucket and enjoy some time at the Nantucket Whaling Museum. Even Cape Cod Beer and the Cape Cod Potato Chip factory tours are available during the winter season. We have plenty of information about local attractions at the inn, so you’ll have no trouble finding activities to suit your tastes.
